2024 Founder's Day Luncheon
We celebrated Victoria’s 66th Founder’s Day on Friday, May 3, 2024, in the Angliss Bistro in Melbourne. Sixty members enjoyed renewing friendships and socialising again. The Bistro was smaller than the dining room we have used at William Angliss in the past, but the interaction and vibe was incredible.

Dot Marshall read the Founder’s Day Message from Laura Ross Wingfield, President of the International Executive Council.
Our new theme for 2024-2025 is: BSP – The Right Place to Be Laura reminded us that the health of our organisation relies on bringing new and returning members into active status. She asked us to make this an important part of the new sorority year. The true blessing of Beta Sigma Phi is having a place where you can make the best friends of a lifetime anywhere sisters gather. Laura urged us all to enjoy that gift this Founder’s Day and help to expand it going forward because - Beta Sigma Phi IS The Right Place To Be |
Following the Founder’s Day Message, Shirley Roddy gave Grace for our meal and lunch was served.
After enjoying a beautiful lunch, Helen spoke to chef Lavara who is in her final year of culinary manage-ment and was overseeing the kitchen for the day and Emma who is in her 2nd year of her hospitality management course. She was restaurant manager for the day.
They both explained their passion for studying Hospitality at the William Angliss Institute and the opportunities that are provided to them through the school.

We took lots of photos of everyone who attended the luncheon!
Thanks to Fiona Heath and her Executive - Helen Bruckner, Shirley Roddy, Meredith Swaby, Dot Marshall, Janet Park, and Lynne McCrae. And thanks also to the staff and students at William Angliss who made and served our delicious meal.
2023 Friendship Day
Meredith Swaby and Dot Marshall greeted the 34 sisters who attended with a complimentary drink ticket, together with their name tag and/or dietary requirements card. Sisters were advised to sit at any table (with not too many within the same Chapter). To create another chance for sisters to catch up with others, they were asked to move tables prior to dessert.
All sisters were delighted with the table centerpieces of pretty native flowers in tiny milk jugs on a large circular floral placemat,
with all tables named after a different native flower, in keeping with the day’s theme “Watch BSP Grow and Bloom”. Table favours were two small bags of flower seeds. I have been advised that some of the seeds are already sprouting!
Raffle tickets (three for $5.00) were also in a bowl on each table. The lucky raffle prize winners were: Janet Park, Ronniet Milliken, and Dot Marshall.
President, Julie Lehmann, welcomed all members in attendance with a special welcome to prospective member Linda Smith, attending with Rho Master Sisters.
As entertainment, Vice President, Helen Bruckner, invited all tables to team up for the “Flower & Garden” themed Quiz which was a great way for the table to collaborate and chat among themselves. After the main meal, Helen announced the answers of the first round and handed out the box of chocolates prize for the winning table to share. Prior to dessert, the answers to the other two rounds were announced and Helen handed out another box of chocolates to the winning table.
Meredith reminded all members of the 2024 Melbourne Convention and asked sisters to look out for the Newsletter that would be distributed shortly.
Ronniet Milliken advertised the next NCWV function “Health Week” which was held on Wednesday, 6th September from 12.00pm until 2.00pm in the “Yarra Room” at the Melbourne Town Hall, Melbourne CBD.
